Cost / Deadlines

The DISQUIET program fee is $1,950.

(Scholarships and tuition discounts are available through our contest and Luso Scholarship competition.)

In addition to the workshops, this fee includes admittance to all DISQUIET program events: additional lectures and craft talks, readings, the Portuguese Literature and Culture lecture series, literary walks, receptions, numerous meetings with Portuguese writers and artists, social events, free or heavily discounted guided excursions to Sintra and Cascais, and much more.

The program fee does not include airfare or accommodations.

There is no deadline to apply to the program—and spaces may open up at any time—but participants are urged to apply early to secure a place in their preferred workshop.

A $150 USD deposit is required with the application. Deposit and all payments to DISQUIET are fully refundable in the event you are not admitted to the program, the program is canceled, or you withdraw by the withdrawal deadline of March 15, 2016.

  • Jan. 31, 2016: Deadline for DISQUIET Literary Prize
  • Feb. 8, 2016: Deadline for FLAD Luso-American scholarships.
  • March 15, 2016: Second payment of $300USD is due. Deadline to withdraw from the program and receive 100% refund. After this date only recoverable costs will be refunded in the event a participant withdraws.
  • April 15, 2016: Payment in full is due.

DISQUIET is a project of US-based Dzanc Books and the Portuguese Centro Nacional de Cultura with support from the Luso-American Development Foundation and many other organizations that make it possible for DISQUIET to offer, if we don’t say so ourselves, an incomparably immersive experience in literary and cultural Lisbon.
