David Caplan

David Caplan is the author of the poetry collection In the World He Created According to His Will (University of Georgia Press, 2010), as well as three books of criticism, most recently, Rhyme’s Challenge: Hip Hop, Poetry, and Contemporary Rhyming Culture (Oxford University Press, 2014). He received the 2012 Emily Clark Balch Prize for Poetry from the Virginia Quarterly Review for “Observances,” a sequence of poems set in a Chabad Lubavitch yeshiva in Morristown, New Jersey. His other honors include two Fulbright lectureships in in American Literature at the University of Liège in Belgium.  He serves as a contributing editor to Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing and Virginia Quarterly Review and holds the Charles M. Weis Chair in English at Ohio Wesleyan University.
