Margarida Vale de Gato translates, writes, and teaches Translation and US Literature in Universidade de Lisboa, School of Arts and Humanities, where she coordinates the major and minor in American Studies. She is also a researcher at the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies, and her academic work is centered on Translation, Luso-American Studies, and 19th century American literature. As a literary translator, she has produced versions of French and English into Portuguese (Sarraute, Michaux, Carroll, Yeats, Twain, Kerouac, Munro). She has published the poetry collections Lançamento (Douda Correria, 2016), Atirar para o Torto (2021), and Mulher ao Mar (Mariposa Azual, 2010), an ongoing work, with the enlarged editions Mulher ao Mar Retorna (2013), Mulher ao Mar e Grinalda (2018) and Mulher ao Mar e Corsárias (2023).
